At Lawtons Drugs, we offer a highly diversified, flexible benefit package to meet both your personal and professional needs.
As part of the larger Empire Group, we are able to offer a very flexible benefit package "Group Insurance Choices” that can be tailored to fit your particular needs.
Basic coverage is free of charge to all eligible employees. Once a year you can modify most of your options during the annual re-enrollment period. If you experience a major 'life event' in the meantime (such as a marriage, divorce, new baby, promotion/change in employment, etc.), you can make adjustments within 31 days of the life event.
Health & Dental
Health and dental options provide coverage for procedures and expenses not covered under the provincial Medicare programs. Besides covering basic health and dental costs such as hospital rooms, prescriptions drugs, nursing care and dental hygiene, other extended services are covered such as:
- Chiropractor services
- Acupuncture
- Hearing aids
- Support hose
- Massage therapy
- Orthodontics
In the event your spouse already has coverage, you can choose a plan to "top up" the coverage provided under your spouse's plan at no cost to you.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a place to turn with problems that affect your health and emotional well-being. This service is completely confidential, offering both telephone and in-person counseling sessions. The service is available 24 hours a day and is available to the employee and all family members listed as a dependent on the benefits plan.
Retirement
Our employees are part of the Sobeys Pension Plan, which has traditionally seen very good returns on investments. Lawtons Drugs contributes 2.5% of the salary of employees up to $1,875 per year; this is matched by the employee. Employees have the option of adding additional voluntary unmatched contributions.
At retirement, as part of the larger Empire Group, Lawtons Drugs offers an optional comprehensive benefits package to retirees specifically designed to suit their needs.
Employee Purchase Program
To support the company philosophy of “shopping where you work”, a staff purchase/employee discount card is provided to our employees to be used on a wide variety of products at our Lawtons Drugs locations.
